New Orleans marked the funeral of Jefferson Davis with brief City Hall rites led by Bishops Galleher and Wilmer and ten clergymen. A 36-member choir sang and a four mile procession drew vast crowds as minute guns fired along Canal and Claiborne. Bishops Galleher and Thompson officiated at the grave with military honors.
