Mount Carmel Pa Aug 31 workers of the Shamokin Mount Carmel Transit company voted to strike after endorsing the national amalgamated car association. Conductors and motormen quit work en masse, halting service between Centralia and Shamokin. They demand wage increases from 16 cents to 20 cents per hour.

Auto robbers hit Highland post office for stamps
Three masked men and a woman robbed the Highland post office early today blowing the safe. They secured about $50 in cash and $800 in stamps and escaped in an automobile as residents arrived. The bandits, believed linked to earlier Long Island depredations, were last seen fleeing toward Kingston on US 31.
