Fred Eastwood of Greenfield Maine surrendered to Deputy Sheriff William Cobb after fatally shooting Frank Fenn, his brother in law, and wounding Mrs Eastwood and others at East Middlebury Monday night. Eastwood, about 47, may recover after a suicide attempt failed. Fire physicians attend Mrs Eastwood with serious but improving condition. The case follows threats against his wife.
Plans are complete for a full day on the municipal ownership question at the League of American Municipalities convention in Syracuse from September 19 to 22. The affirmative view will be presented by Mayors Henry V. Johnson Denver Gustav Tafel Cincinnati Frank B. Pierce Marshalltown Ia and J R Robinson Colorado Springs. Negative papers will be read by Robert P. Porter former census director M J Francisco former recruiter National Electric Light Association and M A Gemunder former Columbus public works director.
