Season closing at Blowing Rock and new water system

The Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce boasts a busy season with strong tourism, rising road appeal, and plans for new water and sewerage systems. The town bought the Mayview network, adds a new well, and orders a modern fire engine funded by local boosters including Panella, the horse show, and Mayview Manor events.

Johnson City Boosters Visit Boone Area

The Johnson City Boosters, about 50 local business leaders, arrived at the Daniel Boone hotel Tuesday afternoon. They were greeted by locals, enjoyed lunch and music, and heard a lively welcome from Boone Chamber of Commerce president W. H. Gragg.

Contributions For Florida Storm Victims

Churches in the city will collect relief funds for Florida storm victims next Sunday. If you miss services, visit The Democrat office on Monday with contributions and we will forward them promptly. The Democrat invites all county residents to give what they can and will acknowledge receipts in the paper.

Morrison signals Senate bid still uncertain in 1932

Former Governor Cameron Morrison spoke in Charlotte about a possible 1932 Senate run. He stressed no formal announcement yet and warned against platform provisions enforceable only at Raleigh. He outlined eight state development goals including Smoky Mountain National Park bonds and inland waterways.

Meeting in Wilkesboro to push Highway 60 paving

Fifty to seventy five automobiles from the area are expected in Wilkesboro this afternoon for a delegation meeting from neighboring counties. The goal is to pave Highway No 60 the Boone Trail from Yadkinville to the Tennessee line with representatives also joining from Mountain City and Bristol Tennessee. The gathering aims to influence the highway commission on the route’s improvement.

Linney Praises Sharpe Work in Prohibition Drive
