Borrowed Horse Sold To Cove Creek Man
Two weeks earlier Houston Dishman once of Cove Creek sold a fine mare to N L Banner near Sherwood. Vernon Atwood of Butler Tennessee later claimed the horse as his own after saying he had hired the horse from Dishman for a dollar a day. Authorities seek Dishman as they pursue the matter.

Deputies Harrison Byrd Fred Hatley and Tom Shook seized a thirty gallon copper whiskey still and equipment in the Boones Fork area on Monday evening. The illicit setup had been in operation about five years, a shed was burned after the raid, and a quantity of backings was poured out.

Walter Thomas 59 prominent Zionville citizen and rural mail carrier died Saturday morning while talking with a friend. Funeral services were Sunday at Zionville Baptist Church with Masonic honors. interment in the community cemetery. Surviving: widow and four children. He had served as rural mail carrier from Zionville for nearly thirty years.

Mr. Frank Edmiston of Flat Top brings four giant potatoes to The Democrat office from his latest diggin. Three are Surprise and one White Beauty, averaging about 1.5 pounds each. Elizabeth City North Carolina Judge Garland E Midgette of the North Carolina Superior Court died in a hotel room after an acute heart dilation.
