Minister Elder Farthing Led a Life of Faith and Service

Elder Farthing born 1819 near Durham NC grew up in Watauga County. He guided Bethel church as pastor for decades, served as moderator of Three Forks Association, and preached across Caldwell and Johnson counties. He married Mary Narvissa in 1840, had twelve children, and died July 28, 1896, leaving a legacy of ministry and stitched community memory.
