Long Pennsylvan ia Locomotive Hauls 180 Cars 182 Miles

The Railroad Gazette reports a single locomotive on the Pennsylvania system drew a 180 loaded car train from Altoona to Harrisburg, a distance of 182 miles, in twelve hours. The train behind the tender weighed 5 212 tons, the engine 104 tons, a record heaviest move. Two crews operated it as grades, roadbeds, rails and locomotives improve.
