A two-horse wagon carried ten people through Salisbury yesterday. In the wagon were M Canady and his wife plus seven children and his mother in law. They headed to American Georgia, Mr Canady’s birthplace. He enlisted in the Confederate army twenty eight years ago in Virginia and stayed there until the war ended. After the war he married near Madison Court House, Virginia and lived there. He had long desired to return home but could not save enough money from labor to pay expenses until recently when he managed to purchase a team and begin the journey back to life and home.
