A testimonial crowd extols Kodol digestive aid for indigestion and dyspepsia. Mrs Cranfill of Troy says four bottles cured her long stomach troubles and improved blood quality, while T J Coffey and Bro promote the product after meals as a digestant that digests what you eat.
The February 17 1902 House debate centers on a bill by Mr Blackburn to grant pensions to freedmen. Provisions specify age based payments from five hundred dollars plus monthly sums, with scales by age and sex, and rules for guardianship and administration by the Interior Department. Sheriff W Baird invites residents to tax collection meetings across Watauga County for 1902. Dates span October 16 at North Fork Thomas school house through October 27 in Boone, with candidates for various offices addressing the public and discussing issues.
A newspaper ad touts Dr Kilmer's Swamp Root as a cure for lame back and kidney, liver, and bladder troubles. It claims hospital and private use success, offers a free sample by mail, and promises a booklet on diagnosing kidney issues.
