Death of Booker T. Washington in Tuskegee Alabama
Booker T. Washington, renowned educator founder of Tuskegee Institute, died at his Tuskegee home four hours after arriving from New York. Death resulted from arterial hardening after a nervous breakdown. He had been in poor health months, yet chose to return south to die there.
