Boone Receives New Chemical Fire Truck For Testing
The Boone board of aldermen bought a chemical fire truck costing 2960 dollars. It arrives Saturday and is stored at the Chevrolet garage awaiting an expert from the factory for tests and demonstrations before operation. The unit includes two 40 pound chemical tanks and 1500 feet of hose. Mayor Gragg says no final action on use yet. proposals include a fire house and day and night driver if water mains are extended. A paid fire chief could improve insurance rating possibly dropping rates up to 33 percent. If larger equipment is needed later, the truck can be traded in within a year with only 100 dollars depreciation.
