Death letter from France informs Joines of Ev eret’s loss

A 1917 World War I letter from Major A Suppex Excisa of the 88th Battalion Can Inf to Mr and Mrs Henderson Joines expresses deep sympathy for their son Private E James 261146. It notes he was killed instantly while out with a scout, body moved to a rear military cemetery, and a cross will be erected with his name and battalion. Personal effects will be sent directly. The note also references a card from Lord Derby conveying the king and queen’s sympathy.

Hackett resident Mr J E Watson traveled last Friday to Stony Fork to visit his father Mr I E Watson after his crop failed this year. He stopped for supplies including canned goods and dried fruit before returning.

Mrs Edmisten Declared Insane in Murder Case

In the case of Lo Ne Edmisten charged with murder, the court found the defendant insane at the time of the act. She is ordered committed to the Central Indiana Hospital for the Insane until discharged by order of the Court.
