Professor and Mrs Rowe are appointed by the committee to teach in the public school this year. Patrons will meet at the school next Saturday afternoon to beautify the grounds. The B Y P U has been reorganized with Zeb V Greene as leader and shows new activity. Bob Taylor is preparing a large commercial orchard in fine shape.
Miss May Mast married James Hobby of Concord at her home with relatives present. Ray Mast wed Pauline Greer. Mast family note indicates recent U S Army service. James Mast visiting Raleigh and Chapel Hill. S F Horton spent weekend in Greensboro for Carolina Virginia baseball. Mrs C C Adams of Silverstone remains ill. Roadwork progresses from Mr Jackson McBride to Mr J H Mast. Cove Creek Baptist church electrical equipment installed awaiting power. Farmers delay planting due to bad weather. lands being prepared.

Rev. T. W. Sexton and Henry Stike, acting as prohibition sleuths, found a still and 125 gallons of beer about half a mile from White Oak schoolhouse. Deputy Sheriff Eldreth took the 65 gallon still into custody at the county jail after Sheriff Hampton transported the booty to Jefferson.
The Worth While Club held its bi monthly meeting hosted by Mrs Geo Gragg on Oak Street May 2. Members planned several Bible study sessions and garden talks with Miss Rose Marvel guesting and Mrs Kartzeg named delegate to the State Federation convention in Raleigh.
The Friday Afternoon Club gathered May 2 at Mrs J Je Hardins home. Guests enjoyed spring flowers, music by Miss Lyon, and a salad course with coffee, ice cream, and cake. The group voted the secretary to send greetings to the Federated Clubs annual meeting in Raleigh this week and planned to meet next with Miss Annie Stanbury.
Miss Selma May helped energize the Appalachian Training School with talks and readings at chapel. Prof I G Greer spoke at Blowing Rock High School and to the Epworth League on Clean Lives. Roy M Brown, former Training School teacher now in welfare work, addressed students. Local women attended the Statewide Methodist Conference in Statesville. The festival featured entertaining acts with large crowds and applause. Audrey Alphin Mahala Kat Wilson gave a piano recital May 5 with ensemble support from Ruth Coffey and Allen Laxton.
Raleigh reports the state will form a theft bureau to aid local authorities in auto theft cases. J. E. Sawyer and R. P. Harris lead a team of five inspectors. a serial motor number directory will aid quick ID of stolen vehicles. About 200,000 cars and 20,000 trucks are registered, leaving thousands unregistered.
Miss Hazel Phillips and Miss Mabel Greene of Othello aided law enforcement when a sack containing three gallons of whiskey in fruit jars was found near Phillips home after a festival outing. Justice of the peace W. M. Hurley and Deputy Sheriff Sanders helped detain the suspect, and Commodore Smith was jailed in Jefferson. Also notes on New York to San Francisco air mail service beginning July 1 with 8 16 and 21 cent stamps and flight routes.
Commencement exercises at Blowing Rock Graded School began with a recitation contest for grades four to ten. Marelle Giair won first prize, Agnes Night second. Prizes included gold pieces. Public programs, a play, and a piano addition funded school improvements.
