Boone marker trail featured in Home and Country

In the April Home and Country by Mrs. Lindsay Patterson Winston-Salem, the Boone marker dedication is described with photos of Patterson and State Regent Mrs. Reynolds. The article details twelve boulders marking the Trail through North Carolina, its ceremonies in Boone and other towns, and the effort to locate the trail with local support and historical research.

Last Boone Marker Placed At Cook's Gap By Local Helpers

Mrs. Lindsay Patterson of the Boone Trail Committee sent W L Bryan to Cook's Gap with W A Miller to set the final marker for Daniel Boone's trail in the state. Local volunteers Critcher Green and others assisted, providing tools and dinner, while Buckner sheriff's barn and home burned in suspected arson, and Congress passed a volunteer army bill authorizing a four year enlistment on a war footing.
