It covers party figures like Deavenport, Jarvis, and the North Carolina delegation, plus tariff reform debates and impending senatorial elections shaping 1894-95.
William J Floyd of Ashe County North Carolina arrived in Jersey City seeking second hand coats but police suspect disguising a theft plan. He met a man in a slouch hat guided him to New York then to Watts Street. Floyd testified confusion led to a police station arrest and a $25 fine for soliciting hotel patronage without a license while a companion used the name William O Donnell. Floyd faced weapons charges with a concealed six chambered revolver and was held on $100 bail.
