Suffrage Grandfather Clause Clarified By State Paper
A Watauga Democrat reprints the Chatham Record clarifying the grandfather clause in the suffrage amendment. It states that anyone who registered under the clause before December 1, 1908 can vote this year, even if illiterate, and that registration restrictions apply only to those not previously eligible. It notes partisan rhetoric on constitutionality and calls for informed action.
