Mrs Frank Miller of Meat Camp Dies at 81
Mrs Melissa Miller aged 81 died Thursday February 25 at her Meat Camp home after a long invalid period. Survived by son Claud Miller daughter Hannah Miller and sister Mrs Mary Isaacs. Widow of Frank Miller Confederate veteran. Funeral held Friday at Hopewell Church with Rev L A Wilson officiating and burial in a nearby cemetery. She long belonged to the Christian Church.

Tiny Silverstone Baby Attracts Much Attention
A month and a half old girl in the Silverstone community weighs three pounds and coos in a manner similar to larger babies. Daughter of Mr and Mrs Roy Eggers, she arrived at Grace Hospital Banner Elk on January 18. Nurse Mrs Jim Warren confirms she is normal and thriving as over three hundred visitors have seen her.

Former Watauga Man Killed by West Virginia Youth
Dauson Warren, 38, formerly of Zionville, died in a Beckley hospital on February 22 after five gunshot wounds. A 15-year-old son of the rooming house landlady shot him with a .22 rifle during a quarrel. Warren’s body was returned to Zionville for funeral services at Zionville Baptist Church. Mrs Nuckles was lightly wounded. Warren was laid to rest at a nearby cemetery.

Dugger Home Burns In Watauga County Fire
The brick bungalow of Mr and Mrs John Dugger six miles west of Boone on Highway 60 was destroyed by a Thursday morning fire. Careful efforts to save the house failed as the blaze progressed, with only a few chairs and a cook stove recovered. Valued at about seven thousand dollars with part insured, the three year old home was considered one of the rural section's finest, with faulty wiring cited as the likely cause.

Death of Graybeal youth from Bristol hospital wounds
Joe B. Graybeal nineteen of Creston North Carolina died Friday in a Bristol Tennessee hospital from pistol wounds suffered the prior Sunday night. An auto assailant fired at him as he neared home after a rehearsal. The weapon entered the abdomen and caused multiple internal injuries. Thomas Penington Appalachian State Teachers College student was briefly detained on suspicion but later vindicated. He had been bonded for appearance and returned to campus.

Adam Dougherty Passes Monday at Baker Gap Tennessee
Adam Dougherty aged 84 died Monday morning at the old Dougherty homestead in Baker Gap Tennessee from pneumonia. He was brother of the late Esquire Dan Dougherty and uncle of the Dougherty Brothers who founded Appalachian College. He earned the nickname Bard of the Hills for his many poems and taught in early mountain schools.

Walter Watts Beach of Boone topped the 400 Bushel Club in Watauga County by producing 382 bushels on a plot near a cow lot. He earned a gold watch from the county bank.
