Fifth Annual Appalachian Training School Commencement
The fifth annual session of the Appalachian Training School closed with the 1908 graduates receiving certificates amid tears and blessings. Eleven seniors, seven girls and four boys, earned diplomas, with Miss Sallie Ray and Miss Eula Furgerson delivering essays. Miss Brown and Miss Howell provided historical and prophetic wit. The address by State Auditor B F Dixon drew praise, followed by extemporaneous remarks by W C Newsland and the class song. Music by Sallie Sienkrecht and pupils filled the day, marking another milestone for the institution and its faculty.
