Methodist church in Boone pays off debt then closes chapter

Sunday the Boone Methodist church celebration ended with the congregation raising the remaining 1005 dollars to fully pay the debt on the church building. The effort followed a long struggle supported by the Conference, General Boards, and Building and Loan aid. Also noted is the death of Mrs Story at 69 years, mother of Romy Story, a former Normal High School and University student.

Worth While Club Holiday Social Fun and Games

J F Greer and Mrs Hugins hosted the Worth While Club annual holiday social with husbands. Miss Lucy Moretz, Hazel McGuire, and Hugh Watson led music and games. A mock wedding and a button hole contest entertained guests before a late dinner of imperial salad, saltines, cocoa, and mints.

Kiwanis Orthopaedic Clinic Helps North Wilkesboro Cripples

The Kiwanis Orthopaedic Clinic of North Wilkesboro offers free treatment for cripples including children with clubbed feet and deformities. The clinic meets on the second Saturday monthly in the Commercial Club rooms with Dr. Robert A. Moore. next session is January 9. Some patients are treated locally while others require Winston-Salem or Gastonia hospital care.

Cove Creek High School Holiday Notes and Attendance

Local residents and staff spent holidays with family in North Carolina. Notables include Carlton Mast, Blanche Horton, Mary Lizzie Horton, and Gertrude Bundy. Boone Methodist Church Cleared of Debt After Six-Year Build

The Boone Methodist Church construction, begun in 1920 under Rev J R Walker and Rev G C Brinkman, faced a $13 000 debt but received substantial outside gifts from Greensboro Charlotte Winston Salem and other towns. The local congregation raised the final $4 000 last Sunday and the church will be debt free this week with completion aimed this spring and Sunday School capacity expanded.

Ayrshire Champion Glen Goerd Marion Star

Glen Goerd Marion Star, a daughter of the champion and tracing to ex champions, proves worthy of her lineage. As a senior three year old she produced 18 783 pounds of milk and 736.22 pounds of fat ranking third among red and white producers and earning the silver medal of the Ayrshire Breeders Association.
