Howell improves eye trouble, Z. T. Watson teaches penmanship in Green Valley. South Fork Baptist Church hosts two weeks of meetings led by Rev. Hughs, with a new choir at Pilot Mountain Church. Elkland High School closes Tuesday night February 23 with exercises. Discussion of school bus conveyance via Todd for Consol idated School amid muddy roads. In Boone 615 attended Sunday School last Sunday with Baptists 284, Methodists 238, Adventists 58 and Lutherans 35. Worship services were well attended, women leading night services, Prof. J A Williams spoke to Epworth Leaguers, next Sunday’s program planned. Streets work to begin soon. Sunday schedule: 9:45 Sunday School, 11:00 and 7:30 preaching, Epworth League 6:45, prayer and choir 7:30. Miss Virgie Reeves and Ruth McMillan visited. Carter and Zeb Dickson joined Norman class of A S N S.
The Normal School enjoyed varied activities including a Chamber of Commerce program led by the faculty, multiple basketball games with wins over Wingate Junior College and a loss to Rutherford College, and a High School team defeat by Cove Creek. The Demonstration School closed with a concert, the Spring Term opened, and enrollment surged with 251 in college and 477 including high school. Prof. Hagaman noted Watauga County public school attendance above the state average. The Comrades Class held a noteworthy church concert benefitting the dome room construction.
The Boone Baptist Church reports 283 in Sunday school last week, with 31 in the adult women class and 22 in the adult men class. The pastor will preach on God's Call to the Ministry at 11 a.m. Sunday, and a sermon on A Warning Against Making a Shipwreck of Faith at 7 p.m. Activities include B Y P As at 6 p.m., Girls Auxiliary Monday at 2:30, and a Raleigh mission convention for Women’s Missionary Society members arriving Tuesday. The Northwestern Baptist Sunday School Convention is set for March 11-12 at North Wilkesboro, with free entertainment for attendees.
