By order of the Board of Aldermen of Boone Town a mass meeting is set for Friday evening at 7 30 in the Boone Coal Company offices to discuss the citys financial problems. Dr H B Perry says Boone has met obligations and paid bonds but water rents taxes and street assessments have declined, risking default without citizen cooperation.

Pineola fish hatchery offered to North Carolina as gift
Howard C. Marmon of Pineola Avery County has donated his Fish hatchery estate to the State. The facility includes over a mile of lakes and ponds housing 2 000 000 trout valued near 10 000 dollars and hundreds of acres of water and buildings. The state would only finance and operate the hatchery in the future. The proposal was presented to the Board of Conservation and Development by J Q Gilkey with Marmon Motor Company ties. John S Williams of Blowing Rock Dies After Prolonged Illness
Funeral services were held at the Blowing Rock home for John S Williams of Blowing Rock who died after a months long illness. Rev Sexton Buchanan led rites with interment in Boone Cemetery. Williams, born November 23 1862 in Warrenton NC, helped found The Watauga Enterprise later The Watauga Democrat and Elk Park Sparta papers. He later taught for twenty five years and served on the NC Board of Agriculture and in the state legislature. He married Betty Folke Councill January 9 1889. eleven children were born, nine surviving with their mother.
