A Free Silver Senator and Washington Turmoil
Mr. Bryan, in Washington, courts a conference of silver men to shape Senate and revenue policy after Congress. The Senate chamber is refitted with new desks and ventilating gear, while patent lawyers fight prospect of shady solicitations. Sherman and Hanna loom in power plays, with Woodward and other allies debated for the McKinley inauguration committee. Local notes include county debts, a North Carol ina volcano tale, and reform talk on pensions, law, and postal wagons.
