Sheep Raising Proves Profitable In North Carolina

The cooperative extension service cites North Carolina cases to show sheep farming is profitable. In Davie County W F Reece notes Mr Woodruff kept 2 to 80 head, clipping 1521 pounds of wool from 54 sheep and selling at 75 cents a pound, totaling 330. He earned 116 from funds, for a cash income of 230. Helper, with 42 sheep, sold 245 pounds at 75 cents and lambs at 10 dollars each, netting 650 with 23 ewes to start spring. The figures demonstrate wool and lamb sales cover feed and care, with clear profits.

Boone Town approves concrete sidewalks plan August 4 1919

Boone commissioners adopt a sidewalk project along King Street from the branch west of Blackburns to the public school house lot and to the Baptist church. The town to pay half the cost with abutting owners contributing the rest, funded by five thousand dollars in bonds. The measure includes bond issuance, a tax levy, and contractor supervision, with work to begin at the branch west of Blackburns and to use county labor for grading.
