Largest Lincoln county poplar is felled for lumber
Aarth Cate Poplar Mr Burt Barlow felled the largest poplar from the farm of Mrs Sallie Wize near Pleasant Home Schoolhouse spring. Wagons haul the cuts to town for days. The tree measured seven feet nine inches in diameter at the widest point and six feet four inches at the narrowest, yielding about 5500 feet of lumber. A platform supported workers while sawing. Such a tree would rival any at the California Exposition.
