Submarine Traps Catch German Subs In Firth Of Forth

London dispatch reports British river nets catching two German submarines in the Firth of Forth with a third sunk off Haddingtonshire and a fourth rammed last week. One large U boat was trapped and raised. twenty nine German sailors and four Scots fishermen died. King George inspected a cap­tured sub as details emerge though no full description of the nets is allowed.

Bank Deposits Reach Record At New York's National City

The National City Bank in New York surpassed 300 million dollars in deposits for the first time in its history as prosperity grows with increased commercial activity. Its reserve stood near 148 million dollars, about 47.5 percent, far above the 18 percent required. Navy divers from Brooklyn were dispatched to Honolulu to aid in raising the submarine F-4, with Admiral Moore directing the operation. The salvage is expected to take about two weeks and cost about 20 thousand dollars.

Boone Aldermen Order May 4 1915 Election for Mayor and Aldermen

The Board of Aldermen of Boone North Carolina ordered an election for mayor and three aldermen on May 4 1915. W B Gragg was appointed registrar and R M Greene and B H Wattson were appointed judges. C J Cottrell, mayor, approved with other aldermen. A separate note mentions a new cash drawer with an electric bell that rings until closed and cannot be fed when partly shut.
