Chautauqua Opener Draws 5000. Bryan Headlines Iowa Event
The Chautauqua opened Tuesday with 5,000 in attendance and William Jennings Bryan as the main draw. Bryan spoke on High Ideals and urged wealth as servant to do good, not master. De Witt Miller and General Black activities also noted. Old soldiers are urged to attend campfire meetings and G A R hall gatherings for setup.

End of a long life for C S Miller on the Heights
C S Miller died at his Heights home after six weeks of illness. Born in Pittsfield Massachusetts in 1836 he married Eliza Worthen in 1849. He lived in Iowa, worked in wagon shops and sewing machines, then in furniture, and was a well known local citizen with many friends.
