Snow storms block roads and assessors begin work. Various visits, meetings, and social events noted across Jackson Township West Chester Lexington Verdi and Grace Hill communities with births marriages sales and travel updates.
In Davenport a Pure Food Co Chicago powder sold as Pure Food Baking Powder was found to contain alum. The grocers returned the powder and the manufacturers sued. Judge Bollinger and a jury found for the defendants, upholding state Pure Food laws that deem alum baking powders deleterious and illegal.

Mrs. Mary Lytle widow of Alexander Lytle died January 31 1901 in Great Falls Montana. Born in Indiana county Virginia she lived in Iowa before moving to Montana last spring with her son R RR Lytle. Funeral held at J M Lytle home with Rev Logue presiding.
Mrs. A N Miller died Monday at 1 pm after a month of illness from Brights disease. Born Sarah Chadwick September 2 1826 in Fayette County Pennsylvania she was 74. She married A N Miller August 3 1851 and lived in Wisconsin Iowa for fifty years. She leaves five children.
A lengthy list records numerous property transfers including Moravian church trustees to John Rehmel and John Brinning, and other transactions involving Crawfordsville and nearby areas. The closing note praises Mr Hall's ringing tenor, his refined control, and audience encores at the Pioneer Press recital.
