Death of Howard McCoy in Stockett from pneumonia
Howard McCoy a young Stockett businessman died at 4 45 a m from pneumonia after about ten days illness. He had been a bookkeeper for Great Falls Meat and Cottonwood Coal in Sand Coulee, later running a Stockett business and was to become deputy to Assessor Nat McGiffin. Four physicians attended. funeral arrangements pending after remains were brought from Great Falls. He was a nephew of Mrs. Rev George Edwards of Helena and had relatives in Spokane Helen Hawthorn was a cousin. Funeral held in Great Falls last Saturday.

Mrs Etta Mayhew Kleese wife of Harry D Kleese and daughter of Mr and Mrs W C Mayhew died at their home west of Washington on January 28 at 3 20 p m She was born March 13 1870 in Wapello County Iowa and moved to this county with her parents She joined the M E church at Ainsworth at 16 and later transferred to the Washington M E Church where she remained a faithful member until death Her many friends praise her Christian spirit and dutiful character

Robert Allen Dies In Story County At Age 99
Robert Allen died at his home in Story county January 5. Born in Crawford county Pennsylvania in 1820, he moved to Crawfordsville in 1848 and to Story county in 1869. He ran a store and hotel, owned Adams farm at Amboy, served as Crawfordsville postmaster, and was a leading Congregationalist and Mason. He was highly respected by old settlers.

Mrs Mary Strain Wooley Dies at 76 Near Wyman
Mary Strain Wooley died Tuesday evening at her home near Wyman aged seventy six. She came to the county in 1842 and married William Wooley in 1843. She lived on the same farm fifty eight years. her husband died in 1858. A devoted Christian mother and longtime United Presbyterian Church member she was the oldest settler in the township except one. After his death she resided with her son Carey at the old place. She leaves four children James W K Carey and Lizzie. James died in 1882.

Batterson arraigned on gambling house charge in district court
Henry Batterson, who lives north of West Chester and runs a stone quarry, pleaded guilty to keeping a gambling house at a small house on his quarry property where sports gathered to drink beer and gamble. He was fined 100 dollars and costs. A second indictment for liquor nuisance was continued to the next term.

Milwaukee survey eyed cut off to Kansas City
Two years ago the Milwaukee surveyed a Davenport to Ottumwa cut off aiming to shorten the line to Kansas City by about thirty miles. It passed Ainsworth and Brighton, missed Washington by three miles. President A J Barling says the cut off will be built this season, urging the Washington route as best for grades and trade.

The Clay Congregational church meetings led by lawyer evangelist L K K Coad closed last night with about thirty conversions including ten men of influence and family heads.
