In Des Moines on December 23, 1896 J W Morton disputes a clipping from the Evening Journal as false about the Home case. The U S District Attorney filed information against the commission with no warrants or arrests. Attorney General Remley represented the commissioners and a demurer was set for January 15. The next U S court term begins in May.
