Washington dispatches relay that Mexican President Huerta may resign in favor of General Trevino, with cabinet changes expected as Trevino travels to the capital. Reports indicate ongoing U S discussions with Huerta officials as diplomacy shifts toward a negotiated peace.
Cleveland police arrest Mrs. Margaret Carter, a 50 year old Elyria society woman, at her home for using the mail to defraud. She is accused of writing to Lillian Huntington demanding 1000 dollars with threats to separate Huntington from her fiance if not paid. Carter denies the charge.
Chicago report details a Greek youth Gilbert Lovett and Glorenn Bianchi killed. Lovett was shot through the heart by Armido Titerone after eloping with Bianchi’s daughter. Bianchi was wounded as Titerone shot at him and then killed himself, while police pursued him to his home.
Washington reports the Senate rejected Kenyon's amendment to place aluminum on the free list by a 55 to 12 vote. The move, praised by Simmons, signals no immediate push for trust legislation as the chamber focuses on tariff and later currency measures.
In an alleged friendly auto race near Ottumwa Indiana two men died. Harry Bottorff of Farson Indiana died after a car collided with him and another person died within hours. The Bottorff party returning from Ottumwa were injured along with Mrs Harry Bottorff and her young son. Bert Harmon and Mrs Harmon were also en route home when the crash occurred.
