A young firefighter involved in a bridge incident suffered a head injury after a fall from a structure. Official reports indicate emergency crews responded promptly and transported the man to a hospital for treatment and observation.
William Turley, a fireman aboard the southbound train near Breeze, died when the bridge over a stream collapsed as the engine crossed. Elmer Jones, another brakeman, was killed days earlier in a separate accident on the same line. The body was sent to Carlisle for burial after identification by engineer John Berry and railroad personnel. Mrs Turley travels from the city to Carlisle to oversee arrangements.
An East St. Louis telegrapher reports the death of Terrence Gill, a former resident of Washington, at St. Mary hospital after a fatal incident in Washington. The letter notes Gill was about 45 and a brother to Ves Gill, with unclear cause pending jury ruling on whether it was an accident or assault.
Deputy postmaster Allyn reports a civil service examination at the courthouse today for two rural route carrier positions in Montgomery. Inquest finds Mrs. Corbin died of heart failure amid suspected malaria poisoning at the Jersey home of her mother Mrs Julia Hopstraty. Age twenty eight. Louis L. Thompson of the north city dies of consumption, funeral at 10:30 Sunday with burial at Sugarland cemetery. Rebecca M. Vatvyer daughter of Albert Lawyer of Steela township dies of consumption aged nineteen, funeral in Plainville at 1:00 Sunday with burial in Plainville cemetery.
Fire struck a single story frame home in Bogard township about 4 PM Friday. Nicholas Fitzpatrick owner, front damaged by a defective flue, three rooms affected, no insurance, contents saved. The rest of the article advertises a Sunday sermon and theater offerings at the Opera House.

Senator Albert J. Beveridge addressed about four hundred at the Layrock Company plant in Indianapolis. He credited James Omelvenn of Seymour for helping him prepare his speech and pressed the duty of all citizens to strive for honest, best work in a free country. Mrs Omelvenn, a longtime local Presbyterian clergyman, was noted in connection with the event.
The Rev A W Baker will preach the Thanksgiving sermon at Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Lewin Hawk was arrested for intoxication and carrying concealed weapons. Alfred Helton, a boy from Boxtown, reportedly needed $1 for transit fare.
