Germany today proclaimed war against Portugal following the seizure of German ships. The move escalates tensions in Europe as authorities cite the seizure as the principal cause.
Berlin says Portugal becomes the fourteenth nation in the world conflict after a German note declares war over Portugal aiding German merchants in Portuguese ports. Portugal rejects the German demand and denounces the claim of being a vassal to England.
