Boston, March 1 Three persons are known to have perished and about ten were burned or injured in a four alarm apartment hotel fire. London March 6 The Bank of England rate was cut from 4 percent to 4 percent marking the lowest level since October 1925. Berlin reports the death of Alfred von Tirpitz former chief of the German fleet at Ebenhausen sanatorium near New Berlin. He died today from heart disease after bronchitis, having been seriously ill since mid last month. he would have been 74.
Eaton Indiana March 6 A Bible printed in 1522 is owned by I McGriff of Lawrenceburg. It is one of the Nurnberg editions translated into German by Martin Luther. The book, in excellent condition, is bound in leather with studs. It has been kept by the family since 1700.
Pickets hurled stones and used clubs to block workers heading to the Bemberg Glanzstoff rayon plants in Elizabethton Tennessee. Car windows shattered fenders dented but no injuries reported as deputies faced the line of about 200 pickets at opening time. Union officials allege discrimination against union workers while mill officials deny a walkout. Operations continued as usual per a mill notice.
Fire department responders were summoned to a grass fire along a street in the area. The blaze started in a grassy patch and spread to nearby vegetation before being brought under control by firefighters. No injuries were reported.
