A fire at about 8:30 last night destroyed the five room bungalow of Jess Wilson four miles southwest of Plainville. The blaze started in the smoke shouse and, despite efforts to save furnishings, the home burned. A suit of clothes and about $60 in cash and checks were saved. No insurance was reported. Mr and Mrs Wilson and their four children lived there.
The Graham Farms Fourth of July program features a nine hour schedule from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. with a concert, four harness horse races, and a gala fireworks display. A public survey favors races fireworks and novelties like last year’s donkey derby, with two afternoon and two evening races. Food stalls will offer cold drinks sandwiches and lunches on the grounds.
John Butcher, 83, a well known resident of Barr Township, passed away after a period of failing health. He had been a member of St Simon's Catholic Church. Services and further details to be announced.

James R. Arthur of the Hoosier Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company returned Saturday from Purdue where he attended a life insurance school for rural underwriters. It is the first school of its kind found by university officials. About 90 agents attended, representing major life insurance firms operating in the state.
