The widow Charity J Wright Kauffman died today in Washington after a long illness. She was one of the founders of the Cabel & Kauffman company with George Kauffman, a noted Washington merchant. Survived by two sisters, Mrs A E Splak and Mrs J L Kauffman of Connersville. Funeral from St Simon's church at 9 am Saturday. burial in St John's cemetery.
Athens June 21 A letter from King Alexander to the premier pledging cooperation with the allies was published today The king expressed deep interest in government efforts to restore unity and said he would cooperate sincerely with the powers to maintain tranquility and reconcile factions in the nation.
Burch chair of the Local Chapter reports Daviess County has not yet raised funds for the Red Cross. A Washington meeting outlined a plan to canvass for 3000 dollars to meet the national war fund quota, with Davies County expected to raise 5300. Speakers stressed Red Cross hospital and medical equipment needs and aid for soldiers’ families.
