A drifting tramp believed to be John Phelps, aged about 80 from Mansfeld, was killed near Burns City while walking along a freight track toward Bedford. He was found mangled in an embankment near the rail line at a deep fill, with death instantaneous. Mrs. Hannah of Elnora and others identified him as Thomas Hughes at times, but officials lean toward John Phelps as the victim, with a possible son Nathan in Mansfield area. Continued on Page Four.
