Wreck in tunnel on B and O line near Mitchell

A coal smeared wreck occurred in the long tunnel on the B and O Southwestern line between Tunpelley and Fort Ritner about nine miles west of Mitchell. Passenger train No 12 carrying engineer Enos Humphrey and fireman Clay Creager was derailed by a massive rock that dislodged in the tunnel. About twenty five passengers were injured but none killed. crews worked to clear the track and restore service with detours to Bedford and Mitchell.
