City Council Grants Fifty Year Franchise for Interurban Road

The Washington Indiana city council approved a fifty year franchise for the Washington and Eastern Traction Company to build and operate a street and interurban railroad within the city. The ordinance allows a single standard gauge track with overhead trolley, and requires construction along designated routes with twelve months for operation and terms up to fifty years. Austin F. Dayton man survives heavy derailment injury and braces for life
