Funeral services for Mrs. Coons, 3:15 o'clock, will be at Oak Grove Cemetery. The body was taken to the family home this morning from the Norris FW Home. Friends may call at the residence to pay respects. Reverend J. Edw. Murr will officiate.
Washington High School Alumni Association held its annual event with decorated gyms, balloons, and a dinner. Carl Luder, president of the graduating class, praised the alumni as 1939 graduates pledged to help grow the association. Officers Jim Rust and Harry Chickenants were elected as next year’s leaders. A vocal trio, solos, and a dance followed the banquet, entertaining attendees into the evening.
Julie James A Colescott was elected imperial head of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan in Atlanta, succeeding Dr Ley Evans who led the group for many years.
Rev Father Maurine, assistant pastor at St Ons of Shelbyville, is transferred to St Joseph's parish Pauls Mission from Shelbyville. He will succeed Father Malo Top in Indianapolis duties and is a native of Vincennes. The move follows seven years at his current post as a priest.
Miss Roberta Harrod, long time society editor for The BD, has left her position and entered Terre Haute State Teachers College for a brief course as part of pursuing higher aims. She plans to teach in the fall, a profession she prepared for years ago.
