Paris reports the German drive between Montdidier and Noyon slowed as French resistance held. American and French troops advanced northwest of Chateau Thierry, taking 250 prisoners and 50 machine guns, while French forces southwest of Noyon captured 500 prisoners.
American forces in France resist the German fourth offensive between Noyon and Montdidier. They beat back attacks on Roura ches and an assault on off 204, advance to the edge of the wood west of Vaux, and penetrate outskirts of Chateau Thierry before returning to positions. Marines hold Belleau Wood as artillery responds near Dardaven. Mr and Mrs Henry Kremer visit Olney to see Mr Dougherty who is ill and plans to return to Washington soon.

Washington June 10 The War Department reported seventy four American expeditionary forces casualties by action Wounded and missing listed include Merle H Johnson Moores Hill Indiana and Earl C Blake Metz Indiana with three others named and five killed in action plus one dead from disease and one from airplane crash Indicated casualties include Jefferson O Myers Boonville Indiana killed in an air plane accident Private Elite Madison Indiana killed and Merle H Johnson wounded
Secretary of State Lansing, speaking at Union College, denounced Germany for failing to keep promises to end ruthless sea slaughter. He said Berlin officials warned merchant ships in American ports to disable machinery in anticipation of renewed submarine warfare. He insisted there can be no compromise between the United States and Prussianism and that the war must be fought to its finish.
