Bottle Find Sparks Tale From Georgia to Fort Screven
A girl in Georgia found a note inside a beer bottle placed in White River by Mish Nebie Tella of the Crosslands near Bedtrd. The bottle, tossed into the river, drifted 129 days before a U S artilleryman at Fort Screven, GA reported finding it on a Savannah beach. The voyage traced a remarkable drift from New Palestine to the Atlantic coast, possibly 1,200 miles via the Mississippi to Ft Tibbet, with the bottle wandering far beyond that distance.
