Elmer Curtner, 30, of Mattoon, Illinois, was sentenced to one to five years in state prison after pleading guilty to issuing a fraudulent check in Washington. Police traced him through the city after he passed an $8.75 check and tried others. He is also wanted by Illinois authorities for forgery and wife desertion.
