Death follows illness of Mrs Mary E Sullivan
Mrs Mary E Sullivan died at home of Mrs Hall 804 West Walnut Street after a weeklong illness from paralysis. Aged 74, she was born October 30 1852 in Salem Indiana and moved to Washington from Seymour about 40 years ago. She was married to John H Sullivan who died August 8 1916 and had lived with her adopted daughter since his death. She belonged to First Methodist Church G A R circle No 49 and the Pythian Sisters. Surviving are three sons James P Sullivan William V Sullivan and Luther J Sullivan and Mrs Hall. Funeral set for Thursday at 2:30 PM at First Methodist Church with Oak Grove cemetery interment.

Plainville and Bicknell Youths Drowned in West Fork White River
Two Plainville and Bicknell youths Harold Miller age 9 and Howard Goodall were drowned in the West Fork White River Monday afternoon. Rescue attempts by Carl Hutchens and Standiford failed as Miller, larger and distressed, could not be saved. Dr. McKittrick and Dr. Wadsworth joined the search which lasted into the night with Truman Litherland discovering Miller’s body about eight feet deep. Miller was a Plainville High School graduate, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Miller, with a sister and younger brother. The tragedy sent shock through Plainville as authorities continued seeking Miller’s father, who was traveling.

Indiana poet and lecturer Mr. Pogue, author of Songs of the Soil, will headline the Daviess County Farm Bureau gathering at Odon Park on Thursday evening August 4. County Agent H. H.
