In a forest setting near Huron Indiana a small group of quaint buildings houses a whetstone operation. The Chaillaux mill reportedly yields about a million whetstones annually and exports most to markets where knife cutting tools are common. Claimed to produce 95 percent of the world’s whetstones.
Leo Cabby O Neill will leave Montgomery high school after four years to coach Jasper. He succeeds Woody Weir and will begin in August, bringing a track and baseball role plus physical education duties. O Neill, a 1925 St Mon’s and 1929 Alabama graduate, has led Montgomery to state finals and regional titles, earning praise from Washington residents.
Jasper High School announces the signing of coach Neill Montgomery, formerly of Washington Pro Duct and nine years at Epsom, to lead the Jasper program alongside Woody Weir who will assist after relocating to Vincennes for a similar post.
Foreign warships warned by Japs. Naval command says operations will begin Tuesday morning against Swabue and Hingswa ports. All foreigners must evacuate by 8 a m Tokio time Tuesday. Swabue lies 65 miles northeast of Hongkong.

David M Williams 79 retired Hyatt Station farmer died at 10 Friday night at his home 521 S E Fifth Ave. after an eight month illness. Born April 4 1860 in Paxton Ill he moved to Steele township 45 years ago and spent 40 years farming Hyatt Station. He married twice first Annie Lumley 1885 and after her death married Addie Pickett Williams in 1904. Mickel Brothers of Evansville brought in a 200 barrel per day well on the Carrithers farm six miles east of Princeton in Gibson County Indiana. Bottom at 1380 feet with about 12 feet of saturated pay sand. A pump and tanks are being installed and a pipeline will deliver oil to market. This is the second strike for Mickel Brothers in two weeks following a producer at Mackey and a dry hole at Henry Decker farm. The firm holds leases in Sandborn and plans a test in that area next week.
Washington July 15 The W P A crisis becomes a stick it out struggle with two sides equally determined. Thousands of W P A workers press strikes over wages and hours seeking the prevailing rate while risking dismissal. W P A headed by Commissioner F C Harrington adheres to a no retreat policy and will dismiss idle workers after five days.
The divorce case proceeds with Homer Beasley serving as attorney for the plaintiff. The court records show Beasley representing the plaintiff in the dissolution of marriage.

Two large flying boats, one American and one French, set a historic pace in a trans Atlantic crossing. The American Export Linea Trans-Atlantic landed at Foynes, Ireland at 5 a m E D T, four hours ahead of the Lt DeVasseau Paria from NY Sabai, marking a dramatic air race over about three thousand miles of ocean.
