White River Falls To Lowest Mark Since October

The Spencer Evening World notes White River at Elliston station reached six tenths over the Gye oot, its lowest in 60 years except October 1930, contrasting with last year when rivers ran high and boats plied between Spencer’s river bridge and State Road 46 bend. Roads 67, 43 were flooded then, jackwaters not yet frozen, and 50 degree days replace last year’s subzero cold.

Fog and frost greet countryside with early morning chill

A blanket of fog and a thin frost covered the area at dawn. Farmers viewed corn exhibits indoors while workmen repaired a Main Street business house. A facade work is nearly finished. Greene County Man Killed by Auto in Vincennes Area

A Greene County man was fatally injured late Tuesday when struck by an automobile driven by John L. Baker, a Vincennes businessman, along Road 54 between Switz and Linton. The driver veered to avoid a school bus, went onto the pavement, and Tincher was thrown against the windshield. He died at Linton hospital. survived by widow and six children.
