Indiana suit seeks 2000 judgment against Nugent in county funds case
The State of Indiana on relation of the Board of Commissioners of Daviess County filed a civil suit this morning seeking a $2,000 judgment against ex-auditor Thomas Nugent and six associates for alleged misappropriation. The complaint lists numerous improper warrants and collected sums from 1906 to 1911 totaling $2,500, including $372 for clerk services and $188 for township assessors, with further sums totaling hundreds of dollars converted to Nugent’s own use. Prosecuting Attorney Flavian A. Seal filed the action. Mattingly & Myers represent Nugent.

Suffragists Decline to Participate in Wilson Inauguration

Charles Nieupor, an aviator, and his mechanic were killed near Eras France when their monoplane turned turtle from Paris at 200 feet. Edward Nieupor, his inventor brother, was killed in a similar accident a year earlier. The Nieupor machine was among the most advanced and used by famed aviators, noted for speed and heavy motors.
