A Saturday afternoon wreck on the E & I railway near Harpestied bend between Whiteriver and Petersburg tore up three box cars and rail, delaying all traffic for about ten hours. Passengers from the south were transferred at Washington, arriving Saturday night. The incident marks the third wreck in four weeks amid heavy rail rain and soft roadbed.
The Vincennes jury convicts John DeBord of murdering his wife Margaret DeBord on September 5.
