Lights to illuminate railroad crossing near Maysville planned
J Perrine, superintendent of the city light plant, announced that power wiring and pole placement were underway to turn on flood lights tonight at the Maysville crossing on State Road 50 two miles east of Washington. Huge reflectors from Pittsburgh were delayed and temporary reflectors would be used by the railroad company to restore illumination for local citizens.

Former local resident dies in train path
Edward T. Ross of Washington and previously of St Joseph Indiana was killed crossing Walker Street at Pike in Shelbyville Indiana. He walked onto an eastbound freight track as a slow-moving train passed. Relatives in Washington and six children survive. The body was taken to Charles M. Ewing mortuary after investigators noted hearing impairment. He had ties to St Joseph and Washington through family and lodges.

Viola Bricker of Plainville Dies After Illness
Viola Bricker 60 wife of William Bricker of Plainville died at home Monday after a pneumonia illness. She had lived in Plainville most years with a Denver stay earlier. Married March 13 1892 two children survive Carl Bricker and a daughter who died in infancy. Three brothers and two sisters also survive. Funeral Thursday at 1 30 PM Plainville Methodist Church officiated by Rev G G Peel. Burial in Sagitation Indiana cemetery under Pipates charge.

Hymera Miner Dead After Slate Fall at Peabody Mine
Brodas Lang a 38 year old Hymera miner was crushed by slate in Peabody No 48 mine north of Dugger moments before quitting time. He worked as a coal loader and died after fellow workers spent nearly an hour freeing him. Lang survived by widow Mabel Lang and four children. his mother Mary ann Lang of near Hymera also survives. The item notes his World War I service and Mason lodge membership. Also included is a brief tomato patch note from Augusta Me about Leon E Silver growing nine foot high tomato plants.
