Police pursued over 30 agitators after a violent assault at the General Motors auto works in Darmstadt. Workers' council backed unions to oppose the disturbance and urged order as 200 protesters from Frankfurt and Ossenbach distributed anti government leaflets and damaged machinery.
Pierre S. Dupont of Wilmington says prohibition has trained a new generation to drink hard liquor and will not easily shift to light wine or beer. He favors returning liquor oversight to the states with government supervision of sales and a monopoly model with limited profits and hours.
A fire truck from Walnut and West Third was damaged near West First on Van Trees when the cam shaft broke in two during a false alarm run at about 8 o clock. Fire Chief Roy Yeager said repairs would take 48 hours with a Chicago company to fix the truck. The chief warned violators that such acts are illegal and will be punished to the full extent of the law.
Official notice indicates a recall order affects 135 workers with a turn to work. Mr H J Ley, master mechanic, announced a shift plan reducing hours from 48 to 44 for the furloughed staff, with all shop and freight car departments limited to four days of work and an afternoon off on March 1.

Vincennes Indiana February twenty cars of waste Bedford stone from local quarries will be used to protect the Sandborn Elora bridge from flood damage. Two carloads have arrived. Knox and Daviess counties share the expense about two thirds for Knox, one third for Daviess. Stone placement around piers and abutments continues under county superintendents. Five trucks haul the stone to the site as steel piling was deemed too costly.

Boonville February 13 Albert Deench living near Folsomville arrested late last night on possession of a gallon jug of liquor. Chief Earl Spradley took him into custody. A search found a gallon jug shattered on the pavement. A raid on the suspect’s home uncovered a large liquor operation including a 200 gallon still in a bull house and a storage building with 35 barrels of mash 100 gallon jugs sugar kegs and six gallons of squor. Circuit court next.
St Michael's church of township postponed the party until Friday evening this week. Various contests will be conducted with awards and a musical program planned. a large attendance is expected at the social.
Funeral services for Mrs Laura D Palmer were held this afternoon at 2 o clock at the First Methodist with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
New York on February 13 reports Barelli a 27 year old gambler and ex convict, shot dead after he and a woman companion walked a Bronx sidewalk. Barelli, seven bullets in him, tried to flee up a ramp at the Inwood Club garage before dying. The woman, May Smith, 23, a Wilkes Barre hostess, was knocked down by attackers and photographed on the sidewalk.

South Bend Indiana February 13 Michigan may take action in court against the cities of South Bend and Mishawaka if chemical poisoning of the St Joseph river from industrial and garage waste continues as reported by Joseph Karasiewicz an inspector in the pollution division of the Michigan state conservation department. Residents between Niles and St Joseph complained of a polluted marsh and a foul smell permeating the area.
A Montgomery girl identified as Rose Matthews underwent a major operation at the local hospital. Her exact condition and details were not disclosed.
