Rev Murr spoke to a large crowd in Lincoln, estimated at 1,935 listeners, one of his largest audiences. In the afternoon he addressed the Vincennes Kiwanis Club and later spoke to a school and club gathering in Loogootee.
Mrs Elizabeth James widow of Charles James of Morgan county asks $10,000 damages for her husband death in an August accident near Martinsville. Defendants are Arthur and Robert Lewis of Washington and J Fred Dulen of Hestonville, in a suit on file in local court.
Reports from scattered areas in Reeve township describe a heavy hail storm that damaged weak roofs on homes and barns while a county wide heavy rain swept through the area last night.
Mrs. L. J. Canary learned this morning in Indianapolis that her sister Mrs. Effie Steel had a stroke of paralysis and is critically ill at the Methodist hospital.
Nancy Jane Stuckey five months old daughter of Merlin and Olive Stuckey of Odon died at Daviess county hospital from burns suffered when a carriage caught fire after a child allegedly pushed a hot stove. Funeral set for Saturday at the residence with Rev Roberts in. burial in Walnut Hill cemetery Huette Poindexter Sons to handle arrangements.
A large audience in Washington attends the annual free cooking school led by Mrs. Burbank, with firms such as Ebner Ice and White Rage Flour showcasing kitchen equipment and ingredients. The event, running three days, ends Saturday with high attendance and strong interest.

Miss Carol Houtz 16, once of titig city and daughter of Irwin and Ora Houtz of Lakewood Ohio, was fatally struck by a fast passenger train near her home Tuesday night while walking across the tracks. Funeral held today at 2 PM as the family, recently relocated from Lakewood, mourns the loss.
Police recovered eight stolen homing pigeons from boys unable to explain their source. Investigators worked to solve the case as officers released three of the birds to aid tracking efforts.
Julius P Brown aged 67, a farmer south of Loogootee in Perry township, died at Daviess county hospital after a three month illness. Born June 10, 1871, he married Sophia Butcher in 1898 and survived by wife, two sons Idris and Cletus, several siblings, and three grandchildren. Funeral at St. John's church Loogootee Saturday at 9 am, burial in St. John's cemetery, Emil Norris & Sons in charge.
Loogootee netters coached by Ike Montgomery won the Reliance Co state basketball tournament at Bedford Indiana. They defeated Michigan City 66 to 19 in the afternoon elimination and edged Seymour 39 to 26 in the final. Seymour had earlier beaten Bedford 42 to 35 in the Consolation tilt.
Nadine Field of Estersburg was admitted for treatment last night. Mrs. Bud Johnson attended a luncheon bridge hosted by Mrs. Curtis Shake for her daughter-in-law Mrs. Gilbert Shake in Vincennes yesterday.
President Roosevelt ran a slight temperature and lagrippe. White House physician Dr Ross McIntire ordered him to stay in bed today and likely over the weekend. Temperature 99.6 this morning. All appointments canceled including the Friday press conference.
John Hamilton a 52 year old farmer from Veale township died at Daviess county hospital after a tractor ran over him during a flood cleanup near Sandy Hook. He suffered a fractured back and other injuries. Surviving relatives include his children Amena Ottis and John Jr. and wife Opha who died in 1936. Funeral services are planned for Saturday at 2 o clock at United Murtrey with burial at Gil Funeral Chapel. The incident prompts renewed concern over explosive firecrackers as investigators review local sales.
Three local school students admitted firing firecrackers in the community gymnasium after a basketball game. They appeared before Mayor Hugh L. Cox in city court, were given a severe lecture and reprimand, and released on a promise of good behavior.

Lewis Carrico, 69, longtime Barr Township farmer near Cannerburg, died after a two year illness. Born May 29, 1869, he was married to Aranda Loretta Walker and survived by six children including Mrs Thomas Nolan and Mrs Joseph Matthews, ten grandchildren, and several relatives. Funeral services are set for Monday at All Saints Church with burial in St Peter Cemetery, Montgomery.
Vatican City reports Pope Pius XI died at 5 31 am after extreme unction and confession heard by Monsignor Camillo de Romanis. The Pope, 81, famed for vigor, died as cardinals in Florida readied to cast ballots for a successor. She was born in Essex County daughter of Alfred Allen and educated in Essex County. Funeral services set for Saturday at the Ville Methodist Church with burial in Old Union Cemetery.
